Impact of Computational Science and Engineering

Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) is now an integral part of modern science and engineering. Computation is often called the third leg of science and engineering, complementing the two traditional legs of theory and experiment.

CSE is a rapidly growing multidisciplinary area with connections to the sciences, engineering, mathematics, and computer science. It focuses on the integration of knowledge and methodologies from all of these disciplines to create powerful problem-solving tools for a wide range of important and timely problems in science and engineering (see the recent SIAM CSE report).

The CSE group at the University of Wyoming is dedicated to promoting collaboration between UW research groups with interests in computational methods, providing common resources to member faculty, students and staff to facilitate such colloboration and to enable larger multidisciplinary projects that are not feasible to be carried out by individual research groups.
